Application is now open for the government of Canada ASEAN scholarships for the 2022 academic year. International students who desire to study at selected Canadian universities are welcome to apply.
These scholarships are available for full-time undergraduate and postgraduate degrees commencing in 2022.
Provided by the government through the Global Affairs Canada, the scholarships support international students from specific regions to study in Canada.
What’s on offer?
Canada ASEAN scholarships support undergraduate and postgraduate study. So the scholarship value depends on the degree you’ll be studying for.
So here is the scope of funding through as made available by the scholarship provider.
i. CAD $10,200 for college, undergraduate (for bachelor’s degree) or graduate students (Master’s and PhD).
This funding is for a minimum of four months or one academic term of study or research.
ii. CAD $12,700 for graduate students (Master’s and PhD) for a period of five to six months of study or research; or
iii. CAD $15,900 for undergraduate and college students for a period of eight months or two academic terms of study or research.
In addition to that, the Global Affairs Canada says that Canadian participating universities will receive CAD $500 on your behalf to assist with administrative costs once you arrive in Canada.
According to the Global Affairs Canada, the scholarship amount is expected to be used to fund:
- visa and/or study/work permit fees;
- airfare only through the most direct and economical route;
- health insurance;
- living expenses, such as accommodation, utilities and food;
- ground transportation, including a public transportation pass; and
- books and supplies required for your study or research, excluding computers and other equipment.
How many: According to the award provider, approximately 125 scholarships will be awarded.

All undergraduate, masters, and PhD programs offered by the participating universities are covered through this scholarship.
Who is eligible?
To apply for this scholarship you must:
- be enrolled as a full-time student at a participating Canadian tertiary institution.
