Fully funded Commonwealth masters scholarship to UK 2023

Applications for Commonwealth masters are now open for 2023/2024. These scholarships are fully funded and available to international students who wish to study for a masters in the UK.

Provided by the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission (CSC), these scholarships are among the most prestigious awards open to international students.

Scholarship Package

A Commonwealth masters scholarship provides:

i. Approved airfare from your country of origin to the UK and return at the end of your award (the CSC will not reimburse the cost of fares for dependants, nor the cost of journeys made before your award is confirmed).

ii. Approved tuition fees: full fees are covered by agreement between the CSC and the UK university, and you are not liable to pay for any part of the tuition fee.

iii. Stipend (living allowance) at the rate of £1,236 per month, or £1,516 per month if you are at a university n the London metropolitan area (rates quoted at current levels).

iv. Warm clothing allowance, where applicable.

v. Thesis grant towards the cost of preparing a thesis or dissertation, where applicable.

vi. Study travel grant towards the cost of study-related travel within the UK or overseas.

vii. If you have children and are widowed, divorced, or a single parent, child allowance of £529 per month for the first child, and £131 per month for the second and third child under the age of 16, if you are accompanied by your children and they are living with you at the same address in the UK (rates quoted at current levels)

viii. If you share that you have a disability, a full assessment of your needs and eligibility for additional financial support will be offered by the CSC.

Who can apply?

To apply for a Commonwealth master’s scholarship, you must:

1. Be a citizen of or have been granted refugee status by an eligible Commonwealth country, or be a British Protected Person.

2. Be permanently resident in an eligible Commonwealth country.

3. Be available to start academic studies in the UK by the start of the UK academic year in September 2023.

4. By September 2023, hold a first degree of at least upper second class (2:1) honours standard, or a second class degree (2:2).

5. Be unable to afford to study in the UK without this scholarship.

6. Have provided all supporting documentation in the required format

7. Be a citizen of one of the following countries:

How to apply

There are two steps to apply for this Commonwealth masters scholarship. I hope you try to understand them.

First, applications must be submitted using the Commonwealth masters scholarship application page.

Then, you are also expected to apply to one of the nominating agencies in your country, in addition to applying to the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission directly.

For applicants in Nigeria, the Federal Scholarship Board, Abuja is the nominating agency for this Commonwealth masters scholarship.
