Moreover, there are many world class universities in the U.S, Canada, Australia and the U.K. Though studying at any of them is expensive. That is why most international students supplement these costs with scholarships.
I recently wrote a blog showing you several fully funded scholarships to study in UK. So today I will be showing you some fully funded scholarships available to study abroad (UK and other countries) by next year.
Depending on your preferred study destination and financial situation, you will find the one that suit your need.
Free scholarships to study abroad by 2022
Below are 28 fully funded scholarships for international students to study abroad in 2022.
1. Cambridge Trust Scholarship
This scholarship is open to study for an Undergraduate, Masters (e.g. MPhil, MASt, LLM) or Research postgraduate (e.g. PhD) degree at University of Cambridge UK.
The award covers the full cost of studying at Cambridge.
2. Gates Cambridge Scholarship
This scholarship is provided by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and is awarded annually. The award is given to study any full-time postgraduate course at University of Cambridge.
Gates Cambridge scholarship covers full tuition fees, maintenance allowance, travel expenses (including visa), and health insurance.
3. Chevening Scholarship
This is arguably the most prestigious scholarship available for international students to study in the UK.
Chevening scholarship is provided by the UK government to students from middle income and low income countries to pursue postgraduate education in UK.
The scholarship provides full tuition fees, monthly stipend, travel expenses, arrival allowance, departure allowance, visa application cost, and travel grant.
4. Vanier Graduate Scholarship
This scholarship is provided by the government of Canada and awarded toward a doctoral degree at a Canadian university.
The scholarship is worth $50,000 for three years.
5. Knight-Hennessy Scholars Program
This award is available to study a postgraduate degree at Stanford University, USA. The scholarship is covers all cost of the postgraduate degree plus travel expenses and is available to citizens and residents of all countries.
6. Marshall scholarships
This scholarship is awarded annually and is available to study a postgraduate degree in the UK. Up to 50 scholarships are awarded.
The scholarship covers university fees, living expenses, thesis grant, research grant, travel expenses, and a stipend toward support of a spouse or child.
7. Vera scholarship
This scholarship is available to study an undergraduate degree in the U.S. The scholarship covers the full cost of studying at DePauw University, Indiana, U.S for four (4) years.
Though the award is available to international students from specific countries, its open to all study areas. That is, any course of study.
8. Schwarzman Scholars award
This scholarship is available for international students to study a master’s degree program in China. Successful applicants are funded to study at Tsinghua University, Beijing, China.
Schwarzman scholarship is awarded every year, and international students from any country are eligible to apply.
The scholarship covers full tuition, accommodation, study-tour round China, travel expenses to and from China, health insurance and allowance for living expenses.
9. Rhodes scholarship
This is one of the oldest and most prestigious scholarship available for international students to study in UK. The scholarship is for postgraduate degree (Masters and PhD).
Rhodes scholarship is awarded annually and 100 scholarships are awarded in each window.
The scholarship is awarded to study at Oxford University, UK and it covers full tuition, accommodation, monthly stipend, one return air flight, assistance with visa and health care costs and other support.
10. Pierre Trudeau scholarship
This scholarship is available for international students to pursue a PhD in Canada. Scholars from any country are eligible to apply for this scholarship.
Each year, Pierre Trudeau foundation offer these scholarships for doctoral research at a Canadian institution.
11. Engineering PhD scholarship
This scholarship is available to pursue a PhD at University of Pretoria, South Africa in the field of Sciences and Engineering.
The scholarship amount is enough to cover full tuition, accommodation, travel expenses and living expenses. According to the providers, two (2) scholarships will be awarded and is open to students from any country.
12. Banting postdoctoral fellowship
This scholarship is provided by the government of Canada. Applicants, who can be from any country, should be willing to undertake doctoral research at a Canadian institution.
Banting postdoctoral fellowship is worth $70,000 CAD. Up to 70 fellowships are awarded annually.
13. Richard Antwi scholarship
This scholarship is awarded to study a full-time or part-time master’s degree programme in UK. The award which aims to support black and minority ethnic students is awarded to study at University of Westminster, UK.
Richard Antwi scholarship cover full tuition fee, £10,200 per year for living expenses, and an opportunity to undertake work experience during the course.
However, only one (1) scholarship will be awarded.
14. Australia Awards
Australia Awards is the most prestigious scholarship available for international students to study in Australia. Each year, the government of Australia offers these scholarships to students to study at an Australian university.
The scholarship covers full tuition, return air travel, establishment allowance, living expenses, overseas student health cover, pre-course English (PCE) fees, and other support depending on your degree.
The good thing is that Australia Awards is available to study an undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Australia.
15. Fulbright Visiting Scholarship Fellowship
This scholarship provided by Fulbright Commission is available to be taken in the U.S.
Research grants and program and curriculum development grants are available.
16. Full scholarship in Estonia
This scholarship is available for postgraduate degree at Estonia School of Diplomacy (ESD), Tallinn, Estonia.
The scholarship covers tuition fee, monthly allowance (450 EUR), accommodation in Tallinn (including utilities and internet connection), health insurance, and cost of Schengen visa.
17. MEXT scholarship
MEXT scholarship is the most popular and most prestigious scholarship to study in Japan.
The Japanese government make these scholarships available annually for international students to take an undergraduate, research, and short course in Japan.
The scholarship cover full tuition and exam fees at Japanese university, monthly stipend, travel expenses (air ticket) to Japan at the start of your studies and travel expenses from Japan at the end of your studies.
18. Vantage One Excellence Scholarship
This scholarship is available to study an undergraduate degree at University of British Columbia, Canada. International students from any country are eligible.
The scholarship covers the full cost of studying an undergraduate course at British Columbia.
19. Karen Mckellin Scholarship
This scholarship is available to study any undergraduate course at University of British Columbia (UBC), Canada.
UBC provides these scholarships every year and its open for international students from any country. The scholarship amount varies depending on your financial need, though its sufficient to cover full tuition, course fees, and living expenses.
20. Commonwealth Shared Scholarships
Commonwealth shared scholarship is one of the most competitive award. The scholarship is given to study a one-year taught Master’s degree in the UK.
These scholarships are awarded each year. Up to 700 scholarships are awarded in each application year.
However, the scholarship is open to international students from specified countries.
21. Japan African Dream Scholarship (JADS)
The JADS program is provided by the African Development Bank (AfDB) and Government of Japan. The scholarship is for students from Africa to pursue a master’s degree at selected universities in Japan.
The scholarship covers tuition, book grant, medical insurance travel expenses, and living costs.
22. Mitchell scholarship
Mitchell scholarship is available to study for a postgraduate degree in the UK. The scholarship covers tuition, accommodation, travel cost, and living expenses.
Applicants for Mitchell scholarship should not be more than 30 years old.
23. Forward Bound Scholarship
This scholarship is available to study for a one year taught master’s degree at University of Brighton, UK. Forward bound scholarship is worth £25,000, covering course fees, accommodation, travel expenses, visa, health insurance and subsistence.
24. Orji Uzor Kalu scholarship to study abroad
Orji Uzor Kalu foundation award 50 scholarships to students to study Medicine in the Republic of Venezuela. These scholarships provide tuition, feeding, accommodation, and monthly stipend to recipients.
25. CMF Postgraduate scholarship
Canadian Memorial Foundation (CMF) scholarship is awarded to study in Canada or the UK. The award is provided to study for a one-year master’s degree.
The scholarship provide successful candidates with full tuition fees, and monthly stipend.
26. Pierre Elliot Trudeau Scholarship
This is one of the most prestigious scholarships available for doctoral studies in Canada. Funded by the Pierre Elliot Trudeau foundation, the scholarship provides full tuition, living expenses, and other allowances for three years of study in Canada.
27. Ashinaga Scholarship
This scholarship is available for undergraduate studies abroad. It provides full tuition fees, travel expenses, accommodation cost, and other necessary fees.
28. AHRI scholarship at UCL, UK
AHRI scholarship is awarded for one-year taught masters degree at University College London. The award covers full-tuition fee, travel expenses, visa cost, monthly stipend, and health surcharge.
Those are some of the scholarships available to study abroad next year. Good enough, they are all fully funded. I hope you find the one you’re eligible for and eventually win.
Bear in mind that fully funded scholarships are highly competitive. This mean there are usually many criteria to be awarded. Once you meet those criteria and complete an application online, there is a high chance you will be offered a scholarship.
