Gates Scholarship is a postgraduate scholarship that you can use to study in UK. But its only at University of Cambridge you can use this scholarship.
Application will start for the 2026-27 academic year by September 2025. This post is to help you prepare a successful application ahead.
The Gates scholarship is fully funded. This means you don’t have to pay any money to study for your postgraduate course. You can find the cheapest universities for masters degree in UK here.
Each year, they award up to 80 scholarships to international students to study at University of Cambridge in the UK, all expense paid.

You can study for any Masters or PhD at Cambridge with this scholarship.
Scholarship package
This scholarship cover the full cost of studying at Cambridge plus visa, immigration health surcharge, and travel expenses. They also give additional funding to successful applicants.
Scholarship criteria
This scholarship is awarded based on four criteria:
- Your commitment to improve the lives of other people
- Your academic ability
- Your leadership potential and
- Your reasons for choosing your course of study
