Impact of electronic gadget on students academic work

electronic gadget

Electronic gadget is a tool or device associated with current or electrical power. They can be seen in various forms: phones, laptops, tablets, video games, household devices, e-commerce, e-books, and other electronically stored information.

The use of these gadgets can have either a positive or negative effect on a student.

The world we know is developing gradually due to the high sense of science and technology, which has made the world to become a global society, that even children of the twenty first (21st) century know how to operate the least of these devices.

But the one which has made teachers and students in schools lazy is the use of electronic means to give out information to students and also demand placed on students to find out information electronically.

Just got admitted? How to survive as a Fresher in school

Personally I believe that teachers are meant to give the student their own source of knowledge by helping them with materials to use for their reading. But today, we find ourselves in an environment where teachers encourage their students to download stuffs from the internet and give them exactly as it is. Or choose to teach the student physically but yet decides to send materials to them through email.

Not all students even have access to those materials. Those who have access to it only take it for a joke and may not even read. Teachers these days go on to give assignment to students without first teaching them in the classroom. How do you expect a student to cope up with such?

A student can easily forget what he/she browse on the internet, but they can be fast to recall what their teacher told them in class. And most of these lead students to indulge in exam malpractice.

And the issue of children being given tablet in school can be a good one due to the online courses, however, though the world is fast becoming a technological world, teachers should not neglect their duty, rather they should make use of the boards too.

We often see that students who have access to tablets end up downloading games, rather than use it for study purposes, how do you think such a student will concentrate on the online courses?

There are various ways to make learning easier, but the idea of electronic gadgets is bad, it is harming our educational system rather than doing it good.

13 things every fresher should know in school (must read)

Parents and teachers should always try and encourage students to study their books rather than dishing out instructions to download everything from the internet without reading.

Here are some ways to promote literacy among students:

(i) Don’t help them in all assignments, make them do some themselves.

(ii) Teachers should refrain from giving all assignments and materials through email, because students may read such but often won’t understand by themselves, better you teach and explain to them.

(iii) Teachers should always learn to give students assignment on what they have been taught not asking them to come and browse because that will cause backwardness in their academic performance, because getting to exams hall they won’t remember, as they only copied and pasted for the assignment and not to read.

I Know we live in a global world where everything is based on the use of science and technology, but that should not eradicate the old way of teaching. Because it aids a lot, this electronic means of studying will only raise up school graduates that are alliterate, who can read but refuse to read.

The impact of electronic gadgets on the life of student can be positive or negative. But not really advisable for learning. Don’t let imperialism make you loose your best culture to one that will harm you.

Take a stand today and fight for an education system that will bring light and smile to the face of students. I Know teaching is not easy, but let’s do it the right way.

I pray for God’s grace among all teachers And see you up there, smiling to the top, because of the rightful way you used in instilling knowledge into a student.
