Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships 2024 | Canada

The Banting Postdoctoral Fellowship application has commenced for 2024.

This postdoctoral fellowship in Canada is one of the most prestigious programs for senior scholars in Canada.

Here are few things to note about this program.

i. Its funded by the Government of Canada.

ii. And these fellowships are awarded under the Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships scheme.

iii. This postdoctoral fellowship is offered every year.

iv. Up to 70 postdoctoral fellowships will be awarded in this 2021/2022 application round.

v. Bear in mind that this fellowship is not intended for students (including Health Professionals) to complete a degree. Therefore, you must already possess degrees prior to applying.

vi. International applicants may only hold their Banting Postdoctoral Fellowship at a Canadian institution.

vii. Canadian applicants who obtained their PhD, PhD-equivalent or health professional degree from a foreign university may only hold their Banting Postdoctoral Fellowship at a Canadian institution.

What does the fellowship cover?

This postdoctoral fellowship is worth CAD $70,000 per year. The program has a duration of 2 years.

Who is eligible?

To apply for this postdoctoral fellowship in Canada, you must:

1. have recently completed a PhD, PhD-equivalent, or health professional degree.

That is, you must fulfil or have fulfilled all degree requirements for a PhD, PhD-equivalent or health professional degree:

• between September 15, 2020 and September 30, 2024 (inclusively), and
• before the start date of your award.

What if I haven’t completed my PhD?

If you have not fulfilled all requirements for your degree at the time of application must submit proof no later than October 15, 2024.

2. However if you have completed more than one PhD, PhD-equivalent or health professional degree, the eligibility window applies to the most recent of these degrees.

3. Be from any country.

NOTE: You can only hold this fellowship at a Canadian institution as an international applicant.
