There are several scholarships available to international students entering a postgraduate degree at University of Glasgow. These scholarships are only for taught-masters degree programmes.
If you need a scholarship to support your postgraduate study at Glasgow, then you should considering applying for one of these scholarships.
From my research, I have been able to uncover some ongoing scholarships. Below are awards currently open for application, the scholarship amount, and who can apply.
1. International Leadership Scholarship – worth £10,000
This scholarship is offered as a tuition fee discount. If awarded, you just minus the scholarship amount from your tuition fee.
To be eligible, you should:
- be an international student.
- hold an admission offer for taught-masters course for September 2024.
- have grades equivalent to UK 1st Class Honours.
2. GREAT Scholarships for Science and Technology – £10,000
This scholarship is also offered as a discount on tuition fee. To be eligible, you must:
- be from India.
- have applied, accepted a place and met all the conditions of your admission by 31 May 2024.
- not hold any other scholarship, either from an external source or University of Glasgow
Deadline: Apply for this scholarship by 19th April 2024 at the latest.
3. Southeast Asia Distinction Award – £10,000
Also offered as a tuition fee discount. To be eligible, you must:
- be from Southeast Asia.
- hold an admission offer for taught-masters course for September 2024.
- have grades equivalent to UK 1st Class Honours.
4. GREAT Scholarships – £10,000
This award is also given as a discount on tuition fee. To be eligible, you must:
1. Be from one of these countries.
- Egypt
- Greece
- Nigeria
- Turkey
2. have applied, accepted a place and met all the conditions of your admission by 31 May 2024.
3. not hold any other scholarship, either from an external source or University of Glasgow.
Deadline: 19th April 2024.
5. DAAD 1-year Masters grant – full tuition waiver
In addition to the full tuition fee waiver provided by the University of Glasgow, DAAD also provides:
- monthly stipend of EUR 1,100 (for the academic year 2024/2025)
- travel bursary of EUR 250
- health, accident, and personal liability insurance coverage
To be eligible, you must:
- be a German National or eligible to receive DAAD Funding.
- have applied to the University of Glasgow and have an offer to study an eligible course.
- have been successfully nominated by DAAD.

Deadline: Apply by September 29th 2023 at the latest.
6. African Excellence Award – full tuition fee waiver
This scholarship covers your full tuition fee as provided by the University of Glasgow. And 15 scholarships will be awarded for international students to study any one-year Masters course for academic year 2024/2025.
To be eligible, you must meet the following criteria:
- be from Africa and be resident there
- have an admission offer to study a masters degree course for September 2024 entry. Though you can apply for this scholarship even if you don’t have an admission offer. But you should have an offer by the scholarship interview date.
- Be able to demonstrate a clear career and/or development plan that will be supported by Masters level study (via application form);
- Be able to provide evidence of meeting the UKVI maintenance/living costs by 30th June 2024 (only required if offered scholarship following successful interview).
Deadline: Application for this scholarship should be submitted not later than 31st March 2024.
From my research, those are six cool scholarships available to study at the University of Glasgow UK as an international student for 2024/2025. You can also check their website for other awards for which you may be eligible.
