The PTDF scholarship is one of the most prestigious scholarship to study in Nigeria and overseas. Application for the 2021/2022 award is now open.
The Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) awards these scholarships every year to eligible students to study in Nigerian federal universities, as well as universities abroad.
PTDF scholarship is available to study an Undergraduate degree, Masters degree and PhD in 2021/2022 session.
How much is this scholarship worth?
The scholarship is fully funded.

This scholarship is open to citizens of Nigeria only.
Who can apply?
To be eligible for a PTDF scholarship, you must meet the following criteria.
A. Undergraduate scholarship criteria:
To be eligible for PTDF scholarship for Undergraduate degree, you must:
- Be a full time student in a federal university.
- Be in 200 level, i.e. you have been admitted into the University in 2018/19 academic year.
- Be studying a course related to oil and gas industry.
- Have a minimum of five (5) credits in WAEC/SSCE/NECO including English Language and Mathematics.
- Have a minimum CGPA of 3.5 on 5-point scale or 3.0 on a 4-point scale which is equivalent to 2.1 (second class upper) in your first year for the 2018/19 session.
- Have certificate of state of origin / local government).
- Personal statement of a minimum of 1000 words stating reasons for undertaking your course of study.
- Have admission letter to study a full-time masters degree at a federal university.
- Have a minimum of Second Class Upper (2.1) in an oil and gas related field or a 2.2 with a minimum of 2 years working experience in the oil and gas industry.
- Be studying a course related to oil and gas industry.
- Have National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificate or Letter of exemption.
- Have certificate of state of origin / local government).
- Personal statement of a minimum of 1000 words stating reasons for undertaking your course of study.

C. PhD scholarship criteria:
- Have admission letter for a PhD at a federal university.
- Have a minimum of merit in your second-degree certificate in an oil and gas related discipline.
- Have a Research area that is relevant to the oil and gas industry.
- Have a PhD research proposal of not more than 6 pages. The proposal template can be accessed via your profile on the PTDF Scholarship Management Portal.
