How to study at home | easy tips to study at your comfort

Sometimes, we face a situation where we need to study at home alone. Especially if schools are on strike and/or we are far behind in our school curriculum and have some catching up to do.

It can be hard to know what to do.

Here are some tips on how to study at home and gain confidence for your exams.

Prepare a timetable

A study timetable is a convenient, reasonable instrument that can help you develop your learning in a short time. It gives you overall knowledge on what you need to study and the time you need to do it in.

Studying is a very tedious task and requires discipline. A timetable can help you stay disciplined if you are committed to it.

Here’s how you can achieve success using a timetable.

i. Make a list of the things you need to do

You have to consider and record all your activities for the week on your timetable.

For instance, you need to do daily chores and shop for consumables at the market. You should make sure your timetable does not disrupt your schedule.

You may not consider everything at the first instance. That is alright. You can include it later.

ii. Gather all class/assignment information

This mean getting all your course work activities and class timetable together. This should include any projects for papers or presentations.

iii. Think about ideal time of the day for studying

Consider the best time for you to study. Is your mind more active during the day or you concentrate more at night?

Doing this will help you allot the right time for study in your timetable.

v. Draw and fill the timetable

You can make your timetable on paper or your phone or computer. Fill the timetable with the relevant details and assign the right time to each activity.

Follow the timetable

Setting a timetable is the first step. The second step is following the timetable.

It requires discipline and consistency to actually follow a timetable.

Here are some tips to help you follow your timetable.

i. Set target

Having targets help you to create a new challenge to overcome every now and then.

You can set your mind on a certain number of topics you want to cover in a given period of time and work towards it. This way you are training your mind to be committed to the task of studying.

ii. Test yourself

Design a test after a set period of time to monitor and keep track of your progress.

Study towards passing the test as though it was an official one. And don’t cheat. Remember the aim is to build discipline.

iii. Reward yourself

Encourage yourself with a small gift if you perform well in your test. This step will help you to create an enthusiasm to finish the target efficiently within stipulated time.

It will also help you give adept concentration to the study task.

Gifts can be in form of treating yourself to your favourite dish or playing video games afterwards.

Whatever motivates you, utilize it!

iv. Avoid distractions

This is the major cause of indiscipline in studies. Distractions can be in any form, a video game, TV set, your mobile phone, even friends and loved ones.

Make sure you have boundaries set in your mind that prevents other things from tampering with your study time. Set alarms and reminders on your phone if possible.

Also tell mature adults around to remind you to study. This can reduce the usage of your phone and time spent on social media.

Just help yourself.

Engage other activities

Studying at home is time and energy consuming, especially if you are determined.

Here are tips to help you sail through.

i. Give yourself a break

Sleep well. Observe your siesta. A well rested mind functions better.

Strolling also helps clear the mind and helps it digest more information. Your mind must not be clogged by reading or it will fail to assimilate much.

Engaging in any of these 6 things you should do before finishing school will surely help.

ii. Give yourself time for recreation

Staying indoors always will not do much good mentally. It is advisable to go out once in a while, do some sports, engage your physical body too the way you engage your mind.

This way you will create a balance in your being.

ii. Eat healthy

Dietitians say, “diet is the best medicine”. Whether you like it or not, the food you eat has an impact on your brain.

Eat the right foods. Proteins and vitamins are essential for brain development. Minerals help with memory.

Wrapping up

In fact, you will follow the timetable at least for your prestige, if not for your learning.

Gathering the family at dinner time or in play time will be the best time to discuss your study targets and schedules.

Remember that discipline can only be achieved if you are ready.

Moreover, you shouldn’t worry if everything doesn’t follow your plan. Be confident and never lose hope on your work. Always remember that confidence adds to your success.
