The Adrian Scott Research Scholarship is available for MPhil. and PhD in Australia. Applications are now open for 202.

The scholarship is awarded to students of any nationality to study at Queensland University of Technology Australia. You can either take this award for an MPhil or a PhD.

What’s in the scholarship?

Adrian Scott Research Scholarship cover:

Fir Master of Philosophy students:

1. a top-up stipend scholarship of $10,000 in equal instalments. This is the full-time, tax-free rate

  • first instalment paid after research proposal milestone is finalised
  • second instalment paid upon submission of annual progress report.

For Doctor of Philosophy students, you’ll receive:

1. a top-up stipend scholarship of $15,000 in equal instalments. This is the full-time, tax-free rate

  • first instalment paid after research proposal milestone is finalised
  • second instalment paid upon submission of a proposal as to how the funds would support the advancement of your research work, for example: field work, conferences, community engagement, professional networking, or RA support.

As the scholarship recipient, you will have the opportunity to work with a team of leading researchers, to undertake your own innovative research in and across the field.

Innovation Postgraduate Scholarship in Australia 2024

Who is eligible

To apply for this scholarship, you must meet the following criteria:

For Master of Philosophy students:

  • meet the entry requirements for Master of Philosophy at Queensland University of Technology (QUT)
  • enrol as a full-time, internal student preferably in Semester 1, 2024 but by no later than 30th June, 2024
  • develop a research proposal which contributes significantly to the knowledge and wellbeing of rural and regional communities in Australia through journalism and related forms for communication.  Specifically, you should be able to demonstrate knowledge and a passion for the rural and regional sector
  • have recently completed an undergraduate degree in a cognate discipline from journalism, media or communication
  • have a GPA of 5.0 or above.

For Doctor of Philosopy students:

  • meet the entry requirements for a QUT Doctor of Philosophy, including any English language requirements
  • enrol as a full-time, internal student preferably in Semester 1, 2024 but by no later than 30th June, 2024
  • develop a research proposal which contributes significantly to the knowledge and wellbeing of rural and regional communities in Australia through journalism and related forms for communication.  Specifically, you should be able to demonstrate knowledge and a passion for the rural and regional sector
  • have recently completed an Honours or Master’s degree in a cognate discipline from journalism, media or communication.

Ready to apply?

Apply for this scholarship at the same time you apply for admission to a QUT Master of Philosophy or a QUT Doctor of Philosophy.

Submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) following the advice at How to apply for a research degree. In your EOI, copy the link to this scholarship website into question 2 of the financial details section.
