Who can apply?

Please take note of these eligibility details.

#1. This doctoral scholarship is open to international applicants at PhD level from developing countries only. You are not eligible to apply if you are a citizen of a developed country.

#2. Applicants interested in this doctoral scholarship must be willing to study for their PhD course in New Zealand, and as such, should hold an offer of a place at a New Zealand university to be considered for this scholarship. In fact, applicants are required to have an admission offer to a doctoral course before applying for this scholarship.

#3. International applicants are permitted to undertake their PhD research through any outfit in New Zealand.

How to apply for this scholarship

Applicants are required to apply for this doctoral scholarship online. But first, let me take you through the documents needed to complete your online application.

What documents do I need to apply?

You will need the following official documents to be able to apply for this doctoral scholarship.

  • a clear copy of your curriculum vitae.
  • a copy of your acceptance letter confirming your offer of a place on a PhD course at any university in New Zealand.
  • proof of citizenship of a developing country. Any documents that can prove you are from a developing country saves the day.
  • your academic qualification.
  • the grading system used in your country’s higher education to arrive at your qualification.

Application is online, so you will need to log on to the application system using the link below.

On the page that opens, scroll down and click ‘create account’. Once it opens, supply your personal details that includes your full name, email address, cell phone number, then create a new password; click ‘submit’ and the system will take you to the next page to complete your online application.

Also, just so you know, you would be able to continue your application at a later time if for any reason you are unable to finish your application the first time you access the application page. All you need do is enter your email address and password to continue your application.

When can I expect a decision?

It wasn’t specified exactly when, but applicants will be notified by email once a decision has been reached on the doctoral scholarship.

When is the deadline?

This doctoral scholarship application will close by August 1, 2020. Applications may not be accepted after this deadline.
