The Nigerian institute of chartered arbitrators (NICArb) is a premier arbitration institute in Nigeria founded in 1979 under the leadership of former judge of the world court and attorney general of Nigeria judge Bola Ajibola SAN, KPE.
It was incorporated in 1988 under the companies act as a legal entity limited by Guarantee.
The firm is however at the forefront of promoting the domestication, knowledge and practice of arbitration and ADR in Nigeria. And has gained reputation as the preferred authority and arbitration handling institution for a broad spectrum of commercial disputants etc.
Nicarb organizes annual essay competition for eligible Nigerians and this year’s topic is: ARBITRATION, INTERNATIONAL MEDIATION AND THE WIDENING OF THE ALTANATIVE DISPUTE RESOLUTION SPACE: BLOATED EXPECTATIONS OR A MATTER OF TIME?
How much is this essay competition worth?
Below are the prizes reserved for those who will emerge winners.
First prize > ₦150,000
Second prize > ₦100,000
Third prize > ₦50,000
Who can be part of it?
Only candidates aged between 18 and 25 years are eligible for this essay competition.

How to submit entry
Entries are to be forwarded to research@nicarb.org
When is the deadline?
The closing date for entry submission is Saturday 30th October, 2021.
When will they announce winners?
Winners will be officially awarded at the nicarb 2021 annual conference slated for 18th to 19th of November 2021.
The best two essays will be published in the nicarb journal of arbitration. You may refer to their website for additional information.
