Come and collect your certificates, UNIBEN beg graduates

The management of the University of Benin (UNIBEN) has issued a rallying call for graduates of the university to take their certificates from the university.

This was disclosed through a publication dated 13th November, 2020 from the office of the Registrar to all graduates of the university.

According to the press release, the university can no longer bear the cost of storing uncollected certificates for a long term.

Not to mention the burden of keeping and preserving the certificates at the institution for many years.

Therefore, the University of Benin management has resolved the following:

All graduates of the University of Benin (UNIBEN) who haven’t collected their certificates should come and collect it without paying any money (FREE).

However, they must come and collect their certificate within three (3) months of this notice. That is, from 15 November, 2020 – 15 February, 2021.

After the three months notice has expired, you’re required to pay to collect your certificate.

How much will I pay if I don’t collect my certificate from UNIBEN in 3 months?

Please observe the charges as follows:

1. If you have graduated within the last one year > FREE.

2. If you have graduated between 1 – 5 years ago > ₦5,000.

3. If you have graduated between 6 – 10 years ago > ₦8,000.

4. If you have graduated between 11 – 15 years ago > ₦12,000.

5. If you have graduated between 16 – 20 years ago > ₦15,000.

6. If you have graduated between 21 – 30 years ago > ₦20,000.

7. If you have graduated over 31 years ago > ₦25,000.

Recall that many graduates of Nigerian universities have often complained of the high cost of collecting certificates from their respective universities.

These costs are often in form of ‘clearance’.

I wrote an article on how to start life as a graduate in Nigeria. It’s a must read.

In some Nigerian universities, graduates are required to pay through their nose in the name of clearance. Paying everything payable including payments for grossly irrelevant things.

Graduates at one of the popular universities are even required to pay ‘field fee’ as part of clearance.

Such is the plight of the average Nigerian student, from starting school to finishing. Here are 6 surest ways to make money (and be independent).

If you graduated from UNIBEN, kindly take advantage of this window to collect your degree certificate.
