The Commonwealth distance learning scholarships offer an opportunity for postgraduate students to study for a UK degree online.

These scholarships are for international students from low-income countries to study from the 2021 academic year.

The Commonwealth distance learning scholarship is fully funded.

Can I know more about this scholarship?

i. The scholarship is funded by the UK government through the Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office.

ii. These scholarships are awarded for distance learning courses only.

iii. These distance learning scholarships are aimed at postgraduate applicants who wish to access training not available in their home countries. And wish or need to remain in their home country while they study.

As well as those who have the potential to enhance the development of their home countries with the knowledge and leadership skills they acquire.

Which programs are covered?

These scholarships are awarded for part-time Master’s study by distance learning on selected courses offered by UK universities.

Which Nationalities are eligible?

These scholarships are for students from least developed, low, and lower middle-income Commonwealth countries.

Who can apply?

To apply for Commonwealth distance learning scholarship, you must:

1. Be a citizen of or be granted refugee status from an eligible Commonwealth country, or be a British Protected Person;

2. Be permanently and continually resident in an eligible Commonwealth country;

3. Hold a first degree of at least upper second class (2:1) standard.

A lower qualification and sufficient relevant experience may be considered in certain cases.

4. Hold an offer to start your chosen of study (postgraduate course by distance learning) in the 2021 academic year.

5. Provide at least one reference.

NOTE:

If awarded this scholarship, you must be and remain resident in an eligible Commonwealth country.

And you must not undertake study towards any other qualification for the duration of your award.

How do I apply?

Applications for 2021 Commonwealth Distance Learning Scholarships are expected to open at the beginning of February 2021.

Subsequently, the list of eligible courses and universities, with university contact details and institutional application closing dates, will be published on the commonwealth website.

The application link will be available on this page from February.

When is the deadline?
