Have you been dreaming of going to China? Want to go and study there on scholarship? Schwarzman Scholars got you.
A program that started in 2016, Schwarzman Scholars is is a full scholarship to study at Tsinghua University Beijing, China. Each year, the scholarship is awarded to eligible international students for one-year Masters degree in China.
Moreso, all fields of study are eligible for this scholarship program. That is, irrespective of the field you obtained your bachelor’s degree, the program is open for you.

What’s in the scholarship?
Schwarzman Scholars program covers:
- Tuition Fees
- Room and board
- Travel to and from Beijing, China at the beginning and end of the academic year
- An in-country study tour
- Required course books and supplies
- Health insurance
- A stipend of $4,000 for personal expenses
Who is eligible
To be considered for a Schwarzman Scholars award, you should:
i. demonstrate extraordinary leadership skills.
ii. have the ability to anticipate and act on trends.
iii. have strong intellectual capacity.
iv. have exemplary character.
In addition to the criteria above, you must:
1. Have a Bachelor’s Degree
But if you are currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program, you must be on track to successfully complete all requirements for your degree before August 1 of the Schwarzman Scholars enrolment year.
2. Not be more than 28 years old
You must be at least 18 but not yet 29 years of age as of August 1 of the Schwarzman Scholars enrolment year (for this application, as of August 1, 2024).
3. Be proficient in English
All the teaching will be conducted in English. So if English is not your native language, then you’re required to provide official English proficiency test scores along with your scholarship application.
But if your undergraduate degree was obtained at an institution where the primary language of instruction was English for at least two years of your program, you are not required to provide official English test scores.
This also apply to applicants who studied for Masters degree (two years or more) in English.
If you don’t fall into any of the category above, you must mee the English requirement below:
- Internet-based Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL iBT) minimum score: 100.
- International English Language Testing System (IELTS) minimum score: 7.
- Cambridge English: Advanced (C1) or Cambridge English: Proficiency (C2) minimum score: 185.
