ARES fully funded scholarships in Belgium for masters | 2021

International students are invited to apply for these fully funded scholarships in Belgium. This scholarship is awarded toward a master’s degree or a short course (internship) in Belgium.

Up to 150 masters scholarships and 70 scholarships for short courses are awarded to international students each year. That is, as part of this scholarship program to study in Belgium.

Value of this award

This fully funded scholarship in Belgium covers the following costs:

Masters study:

International travel costs Receipts must be provided Economy-class travel on an IATA-approved airline, with a maximum of one round-trip ticket per academic year.
Living allowance Flat rate 1150 €/month for a duration of 12 months.
Indirect mission fees Flat rate 150 €. This amount is given once per stay, upon arrival of the grantee.
Arrival allowance, tuition and return fees Flat rate 700 €. This amount is given once per stay, upon arrival of the grantee.
Registration fees At the current rate for DGD grantees.
Insurance fees Directly paid by ARES.
Travel costs that are part of inter-university training Receipts must be provided Reimbursed based on real costs incurred, with receipts provided.

Short training course (internship):

International travel costs Receipts must be provided Economy-class travel on an IATA-approved airline, one round-trip ticket.
Living allowance Flat rate 83 €/day for stays lasting 8 to 17 days
1400 €/month for stays lasting 18 days to 1 month (set amount)
1400 €/month for stays lasting 1 to  months, prorated to the number of days
Indirect mission fees Flat rate 150 €. This amount is given once per stay, upon arrival of the grantee.
Insurance fees Flat rate 700 €. This amount is given once per stay, upon arrival of the grantee.
Registration fees At the current rate for DGD grantees.
Insurance fees Directly paid by ARES.
Travel expenses in the framework of inter university trainings Receipts must be provided Reimbursed based on real costs incurred, with receipts provided.

i. These scholarships are awarded to study in Belgium, and provided by The Academy for Research and Higher Education (ARES), Belgium.

ii. So recipients of this scholarship will take their study within a higher education institution in the Wallonia-Brussels Federation, Belgium

iii. International students who hold a masters degree and desire further education or want to undertake internship are most suited for this scholarship.

iv. These scholarships are provided each year by ARES. And up to 220 scholarships are awarded annually.

6. Specialized Masters in Integrated Production and Preservation of Natural Resources in Urban and Per-urban Environment.

7. Specialized Masters in Microfinance.

8. Specialized Masters in Transfusion Medicine.

9. Specialized Masters in International and Development Economics.

10. Specialized Masters in Integrated Health Risk Management in Southern countries.

11. Specialized Masters in Risk and Disaster Management.

12. Specialized Masters in Aquatic Resources Management and Aquaculture.

13. Specialized Masters in Human Rights.

The following short training courses are eligible for these scholarships in Belgium.

1. Introductory Research Course for Strengthening Health Systems.

2. Methodological Internship in Support of Innovation in Family Farming.

3. Internship in Free Geographic Information System.

4. Internship in Quality Control and Quality Assurance of Drugs and Health Products.

Which Nationalities are eligible?

These scholarships are open to citizens of developing countries.

To be considered for these fully funded scholarships in Belgium, you must:

  1. Be a citizen of a developing country.
  2. Be ready to study in Belgium in 2021.
  3. Be applying to study any one of the eligible courses for this scholarship.

How do I apply?

Applying for ARES fully funded scholarships is completely free.

Applicants are required to apply online through the GIRAF platform.

1. First, you need to create a GIRAF account. Your account will be validated (within a few hours to a few days) and you will receive a confirmation mail.

2. Once your account has been validated, you can access the application form via the Competitive calls tab of your GIRAF profile.

Please note that you only have to click the “Start an application for masters and training programmes” button once in your GIRAF profile.

3. Thereafter, your application form will be available on the My tasks table of the Competitive calls.

4. You save and complete your application form later, provided you click the “Save and edit later” option.

Anytime you need to access your form again, go to the My Tasks table of the Competitive calls tab in your GIRAF profile.

How do I submit my application?

As soon as you click on submit my application, your file is transmitted to ARES and you can no longer modify it.

However you can still be able to access it in the my submitted files tab.
