Fountain university suspend 2021 convocation

The management of the prestigious Fountain University, Osogbo (FUO) has issued a notice on the suspension of the 2021 Convocation Ceremony.

This was made known at the 101st senate meeting of the university.

At the meeting, the senate reviewed the state of the country with the current pandemic situation that has halted academic activities in the nation’s universities since Marc last year.

On this note, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the senate came to a resolution that the institution’s 10th Convocation should be suspended for 2021.

And that a combined 10th and 11th edition will hold in January 2022.

The Senate further stated that the suspension of the University’s 10th convocation won’t only allow for proper preparation and organization of a befitting event alone, but it’s also to prevent the increase of the virus in the country.

This is because the country is working hard to prevent a second wave of the novel virus, the statement added.

However, with the suspension of the 10th convocation, this also mean that the Award of Honorary Doctorate Degrees (honoris causa) to Dr AWA Ibrahim Professor Nurudeen ‘Nimbe Adedipe and Prof Toyin Falola, will be on hold until the 2022 convocation when a physical ceremony is expected to hold.
