Broadcasting
This area of specialisation involves the distribution of audio and visual content to a mass audience through the use of radio, television, and webcam casting.
Most times, you happen to see a newscaster giving news on your favourite news channel, or watch drama series on a TV or listen to an health programme either on a radio or television. These particular acts can be termed as broadcasting.
Broadcasting can take place either through a television or radio, which is what we term as the mass medium. The sources used to send out broadcast messages is know as the medium.
Some of the career choices involved in broadcasting include being a:
- news anchor,
- TV host
- producer
- cameraman and a
- video editor.
Do you love audio or video content or meeting new friends or you find fun working well in a team? Then you can make broadcasting your friend.

Journalism
This deals with the gathering, assessing, creating and presenting of news and information to a mass media organisation, like CNN, BBC, The Punch, Channels TV. And in turn, the news is being edited and sent out to the members of the public either through a radio, television or newspaper.
Note that reporters can be found both in a print or broadcast media so you don’t get confused.

This is a form of communication used in spreading information and attracting audience to take an action on a product, service or idea.
Here, your duty as an advertiser is to create awareness about your client’s product to the members of the public. And try as much as possible to give them the right marketing skill.
You can choose to advertise their product through the use of newspaper, radio, television or through online sales.
Below are careers you can take up as an advertiser. You can work as:
- a sales executive
- copywriter
- public relations executive
- advertising manager
If you enjoy meeting new people and your creative ideas usually come to fruition, then consider advertising as a career.
Public relations
This area focuses on maintaining a positive image between a company/individual and the public through the use of mass media.
As a public relation officer, you are required to connect with people and build good images about a specific organisation or company to them. Its not as easy as you may think , because you need to possess a good communication and writing skills to do this effectively.
Some of the career choices available to you here include working as a:
- public relation executive
- public relation communication executive
- crisis management professionals
- social media executive
If you have the ability to multi task, meet new people, and also a good passion for writing, then public relations might be for you.
Film/ cinematography
Tis area deals with an ability to use cameras, create videos and motion pictures as a cinematographer. Here, you can work as a:
- producer
- graphic designer
- video editor
- director. You must have passion for creativity and must be a critical thinker .
Photography
This involve capturing of images around your environment and making them memorable for yourself and others. As a photographer, you can work as a:
- photo journalist
