These postgraduate merit scholarships are for students planning to study at University of Southampton UK.

Each year, the University of Southampton provide these scholarships for incoming international master’s students. That is, you must be making arrangement to study at Southampton the year you are applying for this award.

How much is this scholarship worth?

There are a range of scholarships at Southampton. However, they all worth between £3,000 to £9,000 depending on the master’s programme you’re applying for and your undergraduate class of degree. You can find the full details of this on Southampton’s website attached to this post.

Once awarded, this scholarship amount is automatically discounted from the tuition fee you are suppose to pay.

Which program does the scholarship cover?

A wide range of master’s programmes at University of Southampton are funded through this postgraduate merit scholarship. However, the scholarship does not cover the following degrees:

• Distance learning courses
• PGCert or PGDip courses

Which Nationalities are eligible?

This scholarship is available to citizens and residents of all countries outside the UK.

Who can apply?

You are eligible to apply for this scholarship if you meet the following criteria:

1. are as an international student (that is you are from a country outside the UK).

2. are paying your tuition fees yourself (that is you are not a sponsored student).

3. hold a conditional or unconditional offer from Southampton (that is you have admission on a master’s course).

4. pay any required deposit by the date shown on your offer letter (that is you should have paid your tuition fee deposit as indicated in your admission letter).

How to apply for the scholarship

According to the University of Southampton (provider of this scholarship), you don’t need to submit an application for this scholarship. Once you submit your master’s course application to the university, they will decide if you’re eligible for any of the postgraduate merit scholarship.

In fact, they will send you an email confirmation if you are eligible for a postgraduate merit scholarship. So its a 50-50 chance you have.
