Application is now open for the 2022-23 President’s PhD scholarship available to study in UK. Find full details of this fully funded scholarship and how you can apply below.
The President’s PhD scholarship is available to study for any PhD full-time or part time at Imperial College London.
Applicants for the President’s PhD Scholarships will also be considered for the Sir Michael Uren Engineering Scholarship and the Sir Michael Uren Medicine Scholarship, which support interdisciplinary research across medicine and engineering.
These scholarships provide the same support package as the President’s PhD Scholarships.
Scholarship Package
Each of the 50 President’s PhD scholarships available provides the following support during the 3.5 years of study:
i. Full funding for tuition fees
ii. A stipend of £22,900 (2023-24 rate) per annum to assist with living costs
iii. A consumables fund of £2,000 per annum for the first 3 years of study
iv. A programme of bespoke opportunities and events delivered by the Graduate School
Who can apply?
To be eligible to apply for a scholarship, you must meet any of the following criteria:
1. be in receipt of, or due to receive, a first class or equivalent in an undergraduate or integrated masters degree; and/or
2. Candidates with a standalone Master’s qualification must have achieved a distinction or, where this has yet to have been achieved, be able to provide evidence of high performance that will lead to a distinction.
3. There is no restriction on nationality.
Note: Candidates with degrees from overseas institutions should check with Imperial College Admission team if their scores/grades are equivalent to the scholarship entry criteria.
This scholarship is open to new PhD applications only. This means that current Imperial College PhD students are not eligible to apply.
How to apply
There is no separate application for this scholarship. You are expected to study your admission application to Imperial College.
Then your chosen department will recommend you for the scholarship based on your potential and academic merit.
Deadline
The President’s PhD scholarship application are considered throughout the academic year. However, see the three deadline below:
1. Applicants who apply by 23:59 (UK time) 4 November 2022 and are awarded a scholarship will be notified by 23 January 2023.
2. Applicants who apply by 23:59 (UK time) 6 January 2023 and are awarded a scholarship will be notified by 20 March 2023.
3. Applicants who apply by 23:59 (UK time) 3 March 2023 and are awarded a scholarship will be notified by 22 May 2023.
