Sanctuary distance learning scholarship in UK 2024/25

Applications have been opened for Sanctuary distance learning scholarship. This award gives applicants the opportunity to study in the UK by distance learning in the academic year starting September 2024.

This means you can be staying in any part of the world and still study in UK through this scholarship provided by the University of Leicester. All you will need is good internet connection and a device.

And its good you also know that this scholarship is for postgraduate study. So you have an opportunity to earn a Masters degree or Postgraduate certificate.

What does the scholarship cover?

The scholarship covers full tuition fee only for your distance learning programme at University of Leicester.

Who can apply?

To be eligible for this award, you must meet the following criteria.

1. Apply to study an eligible course by distance learning at University of Leicester.

  • Applied Linguistics and TESOL MA
  • Educational Leadership MSc
  • International Education MA
  • Postgraduate Certificate in Education (International) iPGCE
  • Learning Technologies PGCert
  • Employment Law LLM
  • Media and Public Relations MA
  • Museum Studies MA/MSc
  • Socially Engaged Practice in Museums and Galleries MA/MSc
  • Archaeology and Heritage MA
  • The Classical Mediterranean MA
  • Urban Conservation MA

2. hold an academic offer to study (or are waiting for a decision).

3. have at any time been forcibly displaced from your home and forced to seek sanctuary elsewhere. Therefore if you are unable to provide evidence of your previous education or professional experience when applying for a course, you are advised to use your personal statement to tell Leicester’s admission team as much about your previous education or work experience as you can.

4. may be based anywhere in the world and be refugees, people seeking asylum and people who have been internally displaced and/or who are at risk of political persecution, violence or conflict.

How to apply

There are two stages in the process of applying for this scholarship. First, you apply for a distance learning programme offered by the University of Leicester. Secondly, you complete the Sanctuary scholarship application form.

As part of your application, you are also required to answer the following questions:

a. Please tell us about your educational journey and outline what barriers to education you have encountered, particularly as a result of displacement and/or risk of persecution, violence or conflict (250-300 words).

b. What are your ambitions for the future and how would the Sanctuary Scholarship help you achieve these ambitions? (250-300 words).

Deadline

You are required to apply for this scholarship at least 4 weeks before the start date of your course.
