Five (5) universities to study on scholarship abroad

One particular challenge that international students face is;

‘where to study’, and some of the common questions my audience have often asked me are;

‘which university abroad should I study?

Which country is best for me to study?

Which college abroad is affordable for degree course?

Which country can I freely express myself as an international student?

Which college abroad can I transfer to from my home country and still get scholarship? Which college abroad will afford me good chance of getting scholarship?’

Which school can I study on scholarship abroad?’

Which university can I get help to fund my studies abroad’

These questions are common in the minds of international students. Personally, I was there.

Most international applicants have no worry about the name a school has made. To them; learning in any foreign university has prestige.

I also observe that international applicants don’t worry about the country destination to study abroad.

After-all, abroad is abroad whether Finland or the UK, Sweden or the US, Cyprus or Australia. Though, many first attempt to study in popular destinations and if they couldn’t get an offer, they make do with a second choice.

From my experience interacting with applicants and students all over the world, I observed that international applicants are more concerned about how welcoming a country is to foreigners.

How affordable a College is with consideration for tuition-fee, accommodation, living costs, and funding support they can get while studying.

Let me make that clearer; international students are interested in scholarships to help mitigate the financial implication of schooling abroad.

I am just like them. That is the reason I wrote this book to help international students find answers.

Before we get started, I’d like you to know I wrote this post after 6 years of researching colleges and universities overseas.

Among other things, to find out their funding position on international students. It also include excerpts of conversations I had with some international students studying in some of colleges mentioned in this post.

These students were kind enough to share their study experiences with me, and I have their kind permission to share their experience with you.

Here you will find my pick of 5 universities to study abroad.

Putting factors such as how welcoming a college/university is, and offer of financial aids for international students.

Isn’t that what you want as an international student? It is!

You may need to make this page handy to help you make informed decisions on where to pursue a bachelor’s degree or postgraduate taught course on scholarship abroad.

1. Middlesex University Dubai

Middlesex University Dubai is a reputable college located in the vibrant city of Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and very welcoming to international students.

The university is a branch of Middlesex in UK and by implication; Middlesex University Dubai awards UK degrees to its graduates.

One thing I find amazing about this university is that they arrange student visas to Dubai for new international students.

Which means you don’t have to go through the often rigorous first-time visa application process yourself.

Settling and adjusting to life at Middlesex University Dubai is also very quick. Because, they have an elaborate support team dedicated to helping international students settle quickly.

One of the international students at Middlesex who is a close friend told me that immediately she had an offer of a place, they began checking on her through email to know when she is arriving in Dubai.

And as soon she concluded travel arrangements and got a flight ticket, the university international students support team gave her the needed help right from the airport on arrival in Dubai.

As a first year international student, every support you can get is essential to help you settle.

What about scholarships?

Having an offer of a place on an undergraduate course at Middlesex University Dubai guarantees you access to nearly 20% study grant as an international student.

That’s a whooping percentage for an automatic grant aimed at easing the financial burden of acquiring sound education in Dubai.

But this is not all.

Apart from this study grant which is automatic when you have an offer of a place, Middlesex University Dubai also have a study package for international students which cover tuition, visa, and other cost for about 10 months.

Thereafter, you seek alternative funding channels.

In case you are Oliver and you want more, there are other funding opportunities at Middlesex reserved for high achievers who attain excellent grades in high school or secondary school.

Remember I said earlier this is what all international students want? You couldn’t agree more.

Boston University, located in the college town of Boston, is one of the most welcoming schools in the United States for international students.

The college also has funding aids for incoming first-year international students who hold an admission offer at Boston to study on scholarship.

Most prominently, the presidential scholarship and trustee scholarship awarded toward tuition fees plus other mandatory fees.

The interesting part is, these scholarships are renewable for the entire duration of your undergraduate study.

And mind you, no separate application is required to get these scholarships. They are automatic for incoming international first-year students.

You can leverage on this opportunity at Boston University to get your higher education up to speed. Especially, in the number one international students’ destination – United States.

4. University of Technology Sydney

The University of Technology Sydney made my list of 5 colleges to study on scholarship abroad.

Want to know why?

Because of the excellent support services it offers international students.

I have many friends there.

One of my friends who is currently in his second year told me that he worries almost about nothing since he started studying at UTS.

Permit me to quote him; “Since I received an offer of a place at UTS, I have been supported a great deal in finance, accommodation, and study-related problems I had, particularly in my first year”.

Are there scholarships too?

The student support available at University of Technology Sydney extend to scholarships. This mean as an international student who want to start a full-time course at UTS, there is a scholarship for you.

While some are partial scholarships applied towards tuition, others are full tuition fee scholarships.

Bear in mind that you won’t be awarded any of these scholarship if you are a government-sponsored student to Australia.

5. University of Toronto Canada

Canada is the 4th most popular destination for international students.

And the University of Toronto in Ontario epitomizes why many foreign students chose to study in Canada.

Saying the university has a welcoming atmosphere for international students is putting it mildly.

So I will state a case stronger than that – the University of Toronto popularly known as U of T is the 18th best university in the world and best in Canada according to THE 2020 World Universities Ranking.

If that doesn’t impress you, consider this. The city of Toronto where the university is located is the most culturally diverse city in Canada.

This is due to the diverse nationality of people who call Toronto home.

And you don’t have to worry about settling in, as chances are you would find a fellow from your home country or citizens of other countries, other than Canada.

Many are international students just like you or other immigrants in Canada to work.

Are there any scholarship opportunities to study at U of T?

Studying abroad is very expensive, and the U of T has arranged several scholarship packs for international students who want to study there.

The good thing is, most of U of T international scholarships come automatically on admission.

All you need to do is have an offer on a course at U of T and boom; you get access to scholarships.

These help you support tuition, residency, and some other costs.

If you are strategic in your pursuit, you can get full scholarships.

Those are my pick of five universities that you can study abroad on scholarship as an international student.

Meanwhile, I’m not holding brief for any of those colleges, they are simply suggestions on schools to study on scholarships abroad.

While some of those universities offer prestigious scholarships once you hold an offer on a course, others offer 50% or full-tuition fee grants.

Plus other scholarships that are available as you progress in your studies.
