Why you should have a study partner in school | must read

Reading sometimes can be difficult and hectic.

The ability to read and understand comes with it own challenges. Moreover, most students prefer to study on their own or prepare for examinations all by themselves.

There are many reasons why you should find a study partner as a student. And why its important to read with a friend or group of friends.

By the way, I recently wrote a blog showing you how to build healthy relationships in school. In fact, its a must to build healthy relationship because you can’t make or find a good study partner without it.

Choosing the right partner

Before going into having a study partner, it is very important to make the right choice of who your study partner will be.

Sometimes students in attempt to having a study partner chose the wrong people who turn out to demoralize and kill the passion they initially had for reading.

They are certain parameters you must consider before choosing a study partner. Here are some factors you should consider carefully:

i. Common interest

You should be able to tell if that person has the same interest and passion for success and excellence as you have. It is advisable to go for people with same or greater interest as you have.

Never go for someone lower or less serious because he/she may turn out to kill your passion for study.

The person you desire to make your reading partner must be someone who is readily available and is willing and  ready to study.

Also, he/she should be accessible and should be able to achieve set goals at the set time. That way, both of you can manage and make your time useful and profitable.

It is very important to chose people with the same or better moral standard.

For instance, you are a student who don’t smoke, drink alcohol or maybe you don’t go to club. You don’t flirt around or do such related activities.

It is essential you chose a study partner who doesn’t do such activities too. That way, both of you will have the same moral standard and value for what you are doing.

But if you are a student that likes such activities, it is good to have a partner that can help you manage your time and motivate you to read. As well as to put in more of your time to study.

Below are reasons you should have a study partner at university.

1. A study partner makes study easier

Two good heads are better than one. A study partner can be very helpful in making learning easier and more understandable.

The study partner you choose may be in same department with you. In this case, you’re studying the same courses and doing the same academic work such as assignments, test and also preparing for exams.

Bringing your knowledge and skills together will increase your success rate and make work easier for both of you.

Motivation is essential for success. Staying motivated is one big challenge when studying alone.

By having a study partner, you can motivate each other and make the study more of fun. You can also strategize and come up with ways of achieving your goals.

Your partner will be able to teach you concepts, formulae or topics you don’t understand. Also, it is a good learning method to explain a concept or teach another person a certain topic.

That way, the knowledge sticks and you never forget. Moreover, it helps you understand and consolidate what you have learned.

4. It helps you access and share resources

Your study partner may have access to helpful resources in your field of study. The good part is, they will be willing to share with you, thereby increasing your scope of learning.

5. Accuracy and time management

With the help of a study partner, you can increase your accuracy and speed of learning. Together, you learn how to solve problems faster and save time in the process.

This will help you immensely in your test and exams to manage time. You answer all questions without being under pressure.

Students who wish to do better in their academic work are advised to interact with each other or colleagues in the same field. Do that to identify who you can make your study partner.
