Value of this award
This scholarship is worth up to NZD$10,000 and will be applied directly to the scholarship recipient’s tuition fees for their chosen course of study,

Before completing an application for this scholarship, kindly note that:
i. This scholarship is provided by the University of Waikato through the International Excellence Scholarship scheme.
ii. Therefore, scholarship is to be taken at the University of Waikato, New Zealand.
iii. These excellence scholarships are for international students only. And, are awarded toward an undergraduate degree, postgraduate taught/postgraduate research or other programmes.

Who’s eligible to apply?
To qualify for these excellence scholarships at the University of Waikato, you must:
1. be an international student;
2. be a citizen of, or currently studying in, one of the eligible countries above;
3. not currently be enrolled at the University of Waikato (including the Certificate of Attainment in Academic English, the Certificate of Attainment in Foundation Studies, the International Diploma of Business or Science or any other pre-degree pathway programme);
4. not have paid fees at the time of application;
5. be applying to enrol for the first time in either an undergraduate or postgraduate degree at the University of Waikato;
6. have met the University of Waikato’s English language requirements for admission, or have an offer for the Certificate of Attainment in Academic English at the University of Waikato, prior to your studies at Waikato.
7. have received a conditional or unconditional offer of place from the University of Waikato;
8. in the year of tenure, be commencing a full-time programme/s of study with a total duration of at least 12 months at the University of Waikato;
9. be residing in New Zealand for the period of the scholarship and may only study a maximum of 50% of your course online (if this option is available);
10. not be going to the University of Waikato through a sponsoring body;
11. not be going to the University of Waikato on a Guaranteed Credit Arrangement or through a study abroad or student exchange agreement;
12. have a minimum GPA-equivalency of B+.
If you meet the eligibility criteria above, then you are qualified for the scholarship.

How to apply
As a new applicant, you will need to:
- complete an Application to Enrol at Waikato before you can have access to apply for scholarships (This application is not a commitment to study at Waikato and can be withdrawn or updated at any time).
If you are a current student or already have a MyWaikato account you can apply following this procedure:
- Log in to MyWaikato
- Click on the ‘Scholarships’ tab and select the scholarship you wish to apply for from the list of scholarships at the bottom of the page.
