‘How can I maintain my natural hair?

What are the things I need for my hair?

Its for this reason I took care to prepare this natural hair guide and it is my hope that it comes handy for you.

If you follow this natural hair guide, you will be shocked at how well your hair will grow and look.

Follow me carefully because I will be taking you through not just how to care for your hair, most of which are from my own experiences. I will also show you the required tools at each phase.

How do I grow my natural hair?

Here are six tips to care for and grow your natural hair.

1.  Use a big tooth comb

Every natural hair girl needs a big tooth comb. The natural hair grows curly from the scalp, so there is every possibility for your hair to tangle most times.

The big tooth comb helps for easy combing. While combing, you have to be as gentle as possible so you don’t cut your hair from its root.

Ever wondered why some hair looks really full in size?

Well the trick is gentle combing with a big tooth comb.

Mind you, frequent combing of your hair should be avoided to prevent your hair breaking. However, you can use small tooth comb when styling your hair.

But it shouldn’t be used for combing if keeping and maintaining your natural hair is your utmost desire.

2. Use a spray bottle

If you want to maintain your natural hair, the importance of using a spray bottle cannot be over-emphasized. Your spray bottle is very essential if you want to keep your hair looking good.

Always ensure your spray bottle contains just water, because water helps to hydrate your hair and keep it healthy. A bonus is that your hair stays beautiful all the time.

A spray bottle is the easiest means to apply water to your hair. Also, a spray bottle comes handy when you need to comb your hair.

Ever wondered why some girls find it easy to comb their hair?

The trick is this;

  • part your hair into small segments.
  • Apply water using your spray bottle before combing each segment.

This trick softens your hair and aids easy combing.

3.  Use a satin cap

Your natural hair needs a satin cap(a nylon-like cap). This helps your hair to stay in shape.

You can use your satin cap to get oil, water and other products settled in your hair quickly. When you style your hair and need it to stay in shape, your satin cap can do the job.

Basically, when its bed time, a lot of girls struggle with what to cover their hair with. The satin cap can also do this job effectively.

Employing the use of a satin cap will no doubt give your natural hair that feel you always wanted.

4. Apply hair oil

For your hair to have the proper care it deserves, hair oil is very vital. These oil are the best for natural hair.

I recommend coconut oil, olive oil, and almond oil for your hair as I have tried these on my own hair. Though there are other healthy hair oil out there that I haven’t tried.

Oil go a long way in moisturizing your hair, which enhances softness and growth.

When you care for your body, you apply cream so you can glow. Same is applicable to your hair.

When you apply oil to your hair, you make it glow ever more.

5. Use shampoo and conditioner

Shampoo/Conditioner are very useful during wash days. Caring for your natural hair means washing your hair when due, so a wash day should always be on your time table.

The shampoo and conditioner are necessities for washing your hair properly.

While the shampoo is used to remove dirt, oil and other products from the surface and scalp of your hair. A conditioner replenish those oil, giving a moisturizing boost to your hair.

In addition, the conditioner also softens your hair for easy combing.

Using a shampoo and conditioner on your hair is an all-important way to make your natural hair look neat and soft always.

6.  Use rubber bands/bobby pins

Having a messy hair is not proper care for your hair. The rubber band helps to pack your hair in various sizes, while the pins helps to style your hair.

Effective use of both the rubber bands and pins will keep your hair from being messy.

I’m sure you wouldn’t want your hair looking all messy, would you?

When using the rubber band, make sure its not too tight, because if it is, your hair can likely break when its time for a comb.

So avoid packing your hair too tight.

7.  Make safe hair styles

Making safe hair styles in this context means, styles that does not involve taking too much of your front hair or styles that needs your hair stylist to hold your hair very tight.

Those hair styles are detrimental to the growth of your natural hair.

When you don’t have an official outing, weaving or twisting your natural hair is very friendly.

But if you have official duties, especially if you are a working class, making styles that don’t take much of your front hair and styles that are not too tight will make your hair really happy.

8.  Trim your hair

The act of trimming your natural hair is very healthy and a lot of people really do not know this trick.

When you trim your hair, you remove the dead edge off your hair. This way, combing is made easy growth enhanced.

Trimming your hair once in every three months will help your hair massively.

Lack of proper hair care can lead to a variety of hair problems like excessive dandruff on the hair (trust me, they can be very troubling).

That can also deteriorate your health. See my guide on: how to maintain a healthy life.

Your hair is a delicate part of your body and its to be treated with utmost care.

There are several ways of taking care of your hair, especially if you don’t style it often – if your hair is natural; it deserves a more delicate treatment.

In any hair treatment you embark on, always have it in mind that natural (organic) hair products are the best. They have little or no side effects.

You just have to choose the one that’s suited for your hair type. Ensure you check your allergies to avoid any harsh treatment.
