OKP Scholarship for international students (2024)

The Orange Knowledge Programme (OKP) is an annual scholarship provided by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The scholarship is offered to international students who wish to study in The Netherlands.

Through this Orange Knowledge Programme, you can study a short course or masters degree fully funded in the Netherlands for the duration below.

  • short courses (round 1: duration 2 weeks to 12 months; round 2: duration 2 weeks to 7 months);
  • master’s programmes (duration 12 to 24 months)

The objective of the Orange Knowledge Programme is to strengthen organizations by strengthening people. As a result, the scheme has priority areas which is listed below:

  • sexual and reproductive health and rights
  • security and rule of law
  • food and nutrition security
  • water management

Who is eligible

Applications who are citizens of, and working in the following countries are eligible to apply:

  • Bangladesh, Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi,
  • Colombia, Congo (DRC),
  • Egypt, Ethiopia,
  • Ghana,
  • Indonesia, Iraq,
  • Jordan,
  • Kenya,
  • Lebanon,
  • Mali, Mozambique,
  • Niger, Nigeria,
  • Palestinian Territories,
  • Rwanda,
  • Senegal, Somalia, South Africa, South Sudan,
  • Tanzania, Tunisia,
  • Vietnam,
  • Yemen.

In addition to being from any of the participating countries above, you must meet the following criteria:

  • be motivated;
  • be living and working in an OKP country;
  • be proficient in English or French;
  • be working in one of the priority areas for your country;
  • can motivate using and transferring your knowledge and experience in your employing organisation after your studies;
  • agree to OKP obligations.

Ready to apply?

Before starting an application for this OKP scholarship, first understand the application process.

First things first. As a general rule, you are required to apply for admission to a Dutch institution. Follow the steps below.

1. Check if your application falls within the OKP scholarship focus areas determined for your country.

2. Check if you meet the OKP scholarship eligibility criteria above.

3. Find a course on the OKP eligible course list and apply.

4. Ask your employer whether they are willing to nominate you for an OKP scholarship.

5. Contact the Dutch institution of your choice to receive more information about the application procedure, the academic requirements and the link to apply online.

6. Prepare your application:

  • employer statement,
  • motivation,
  • passport,
  • government statement (if required)

7. During an application round, submit your application online using the link you receive from the Dutch institution.

Deadline

Submit an application for this scholarship by 5 September 2023 for courses starting after 1 February 2024.

As part of the scholarship guideline, all Short courses must be completed before 31 August 2024. And all Master’s must be completed by 31 January 2025, with the exception of co-financed master’s programmes.

So act fast and select a programme that finishes within the stipulated period.

  1. Please Can I get short course that do not need any English proficiency because the media of instruction is English in our country and all my credential documents are in English, and I have also the confirmation letter that assures about our media of instruction is English.
