This acceptance fee is for students offered admission into UNICAL to commence study in 2020/2021 academic session. Which is to commence in August 2021.

I wrote a post on the approved UNICAL academic calendar for 2020/2021 and 2021/2022 academic session. You should check it out for the timetable for the new academic session.

What to do after paying UNICAL acceptance fee

After completing your acceptance fee payment, you are required to proceed to school to commence registration and pay your school fees.

Below are things to do after paying UNICAL acceptance fee.

1. Prepare to resume school

Once you finish paying your acceptance fee, you are now ready to resume school. So you should immediately commence the process of preparing for school.

While doing this, consider the following:

Your school fees

Your accommodation and

Finance

2. Proceed to school

After putting things in place (as in number 1 above), you should immediately head to school.

Therefore, welcome to University of Calabar!

Here are 5 things you should know about studying in UNICAL.

3. Go to your department

Once you get to school, locate your department. The first thing you need to do is departmental screening.

At your department (general office), you will be required to submit your JAMB admission letter and UNICAL admission letter. Your name will immediately be confirmed on the department admission list (hard copy).

Once confirmed, you will immediately be given a clearance to pay school fees slip.

4. Pay your school fees

The next thing to do is to commence the process of paying your school fees.

UNICAL school fees payment has a process. So its good to be properly guided so you don’t pay your fees the wrong way.

How to pay UNICAL school fees

a. Go to any computer centre within the school premises or UNICAL database (at philosophy department).

b. Generate fee payment slip from UNICAL portal (they usually charge ₦200 at database and ₦500 at computer centres in school).

You give the attendant your JAMB registration number and department admitted into. Then your school fees payment slip will be printed from UNICAL portal and given to you.

c. Proceed to the bank stated on your school fees payment slip to pay your school fees. Mind you, different departments pay their school fees at different banks.

d. After payment, return to the computer centre or database where you generated the slip to print out your final school fees receipt.

You will find its very easy to pay UNICAL school fees if you followed the four steps above.

5. Pay department/faculty charges

After paying your school fees, you may want to also clear other academic charges. Your department and faculty is one of those essential charges.

Every department and faculty in UNICAL have dues they pay (currently ₦2000 per semester). You pay these dues to unical microfinance bank.

If you don’t have the money, you can as well pay later. But if you have, its better to pay them now to avoid accumulating too many bills to pay.

6. Proceed to your department for registration

After paying your school charges, the next best thing to do is to go to your department and faculty for registration/screening. You submit your JAMB admission letter, UTME result, WAEC/NECO result, acceptance fee receipt, school fees receipt.

This is how to become a registered student of that department in University of Calabar.

On completion of this process, you will be given a departmental handbook. The handbook contain all the courses you’ll be offering throughout your stay in school. It also contain other information about your department, and the university of Calabar as far as your academics is concerned.

7. Register your courses/attend lectures

You should start your course registration. Take note that in UNICAL, you need to register all the courses you are offering in a semester one after the other, including GSS courses.

This process is usually tasking, especially if the courses you are offering that semester are spread round different departments in school.

Let me repeat that you are required to register ALL your course. This include GSS and EDC (also known as GST) which all students take together.

Normally, lectures and course registration start at the same time. It is wise to attend your lectures and register your courses only when its convenient for you to do so.

You won’t be stopped from attending lectures if you haven’t registered a course in university. So avoid missing classes because of course registration. You can always register your course after a lecture or another time.

8. Study

Now is the time to put in the hours into your study. There is no doubt that this is your primary reason of being in school.

Channel your energy toward your studies and make your school time count. In doing this, you’ll need to learn how to manage your time, money, and relationships.
