The management of University of Calabar (UNICAL) has opened applications for admission into diploma programmes of the university for the 2020/2021 academic session.
By this notice, all candidates interested in doing UNICAL diploma should carefully go through this information.
About UNICAL diploma programme
UNICAL diploma is a two-years programme in selected courses, leading to the award of a diploma certificate. Successful candidates can use it to gain direct entry admission (starting from 200 level) into related courses.
To be admitted into the UNICAL diploma programme, you should have the minimum requirement for any of the following available courses:
1. Diploma in Marine Science
You must have at least five (5) credits in relevant subjects (including English Language and Mathematics) in WASSCE/NECO/GCE at not more than two sittings.
2. Diploma in African and Asian Studies
You must have at least four (4) credits from any of these subjects: English Language, Literature, Economics, History, Government, Christian Religious Studies and Mathematics.
OR
Certificate in Theatre Studies, Journalism and Mass Communication or related disciplines from recognized universities, provided you have at least four (4) credits passes in the subjects above.
OR
The Teacher Grade II Certificate with at least a credit at the Merit level including English Language.
3. Diploma in Theatre and Media Studies
You must have at least four (4) credits in relevant subjects (including English Language and Mathematics) in WASSCE/NECO/GCE at not more than two sittings.
Institute of Education
4. Diploma in Education
You must have at least four (4) credits in relevant teaching subjects (including English Language and Mathematics) in WASSCE/NECO/GCE at not more than two sittings.
5. Diploma in Library and Information Science
You must have at least four (4) credits in any subject (including English Language and Mathematics) in WASSCE/NECO/GCE at not more than two sittings.
6. Diploma in Pre-Primary and Basic Education
You must have at least four (4) credits in any subject (including English Language and Mathematics) in WASSCE/NECO/GCE at not more than two sittings.
7. Diploma in Educational Technology
You must have at least four (4) credits in relevant teaching subjects (including English Language and Mathematics) in WASSCE/NECO/GCE at not more than two (2) sittings.
8. Diploma in Environmental Education
You must have at least four (4) credits in relevant teaching subjects (including English Language and Mathematics) in WASSCE/NECO/GCE at not more than two (2) sittings.
Institute of Public Policy and Administration
9. Diploma in Social Work
You must have at least five (5) credits in the following subjects: English Language, Christian Religious Studies, Economics, Government, Commerce and at least a pass in Mathematics in WASSCE/NECO/GCE at not more than two (2) sittings.
10. Diploma in Law
You must have at least five (5) credits in relevant subjects (including English Language and Literature) in WASSCE/NECO/GCE at not more than two (2) sittings.
11. Diploma in Business Administration
You must have at least five (5) credits in relevant subjects (including English Language, Economics and Mathematics) in WASSCE/NECO/GCE at not more than two (2) sittings.
12. Diploma in Tourism and Hotel Management
You must have at least four (4) credits in relevant subjects (including English Language) in WASSCE/NECO/GCE at not more than two (2) sittings.
A knowledge or credit in French is an added advantage.
13. Diploma in Personnel Management
You must have at least four (4) credits in relevant subjects at WASSCE/NECO/GCE at not more than two (2) sittings.
14. Diploma in Local Government Studies
You must have at least four (4) credits OR TC II from the following subjects: Government, Economics or Commerce, C.R.K, Literature, Accounting or Mathematics with at least a Pass in English Language at WASSCE/NECO/GCE at not more than two (2) sittings.
15. Diploma in Public Administration
You must have at least four (4) credits OR TC II from the following subjects: Government, Economics or Commerce, C.R.K, Literature, Accounting or Mathematics with at least a Pass in English Language at WASSCE/NECO/GCE at not more than two (2) sittings.
How to apply for UNICAL diploma admission 2021/2022
Unical diploma application is also known as ‘CES application’.
Step 2: Obtain UNICAL CES PIN
You are required to buy the application PIN to start your application. And you can get it through any of the methods below.
First method:
1. Walk into any recognized bank in the country.
2. Tell the cashier you want to pay for UNICAL CES application pin through etranzact.
3. Then pay the sum of ₦15,000 only.
4. You will immediately be given a payment slip that contains the predegree pin.
5. Leave the bank and go to any computer center to register for UNICAL CES (and select diploma).
Second method:
Buy the application pin online at UNICAL CES application page
Log in with the TRANSACTION ID to complete the diploma application form.
Deadline
UNICAL diploma application is currently open, deadline will be announced later.

Please how much is school fees for diploma student in unical.
And can they aloud someone to pay it 2 times if the person doesn’t have all at once.
UNICAL diploma school fees is ₦60,000 and you pay it all at once. For now, diploma students are not allowed to pay their fees twice.

Can admission b stopped for diploma students after first list is out?
No. Admissions can still continue after the first list. Besides, its not definite how many days after one’s name is out after application.
Is unical offering diploma in economic?
Any course you don’t find there is not available for admission through unical diploma.
